The man had been following him for days now, the clever little mouse. Muggle through and through, only… he was quite keen for a Muggle. Observant. Not just of the ordinary, but also the extraordinary. And he was getting close to the truth.

In a way, Grindelwald wanted to use him as a case study – this New York City detective. He wondered what he might do, how he might react. Would all Muggles react as he might? Surely not, he thought as he poured himself a glass of whiskey – slow and meticulous and torturous, so his captive might hear him and wonder. Blindfolded, caught in the dark with nothing but sound and Grindelwald’s tender mercy to keep him company.

“I’m worried about him, Newt. He’s taken the whole Grindelwald affair quite personally – as he has every right to do… But you know what that kind of darkness can do to a man… Just look after him for me, please? I’d come if the ministry’d let me, but I have strict orders to remain in London,” he said, a drawn look on his face. Antsy and unhappy with the orders. Worried. “A man shouldn’t have to face that darkness alone, and knowing Percival, he’s hellbent on trying.”

“He doesn’t know me, brother. I’m not sure what you’d like for me to–”

“Help him. He doesn’t have to know you for you to help him,” and the sentence was pointed, knowing, and Newt sighed.

“I’ll see what I can do.”

Newt stayed in New York not so much because he was offered, but because he was needed. Grindelwald’s agents had seen fit to begin using the release of magical creatures onto muggle populations in an effort of revealing them all – something Newt was uniquely trained to handle. The Madam President had not seemed keen on the idea, but her director of magical security would not be swayed from the plan. He would not put his men in the path of potentially dangerous creatures if they had a more than capable expert available to guide them in the field.

Newt is more than happy to stay. To help the aurors just as much as to ensure the safety of the creatures being used so cruelly – but also because of his brother’s request.

Help him.

And oh, how the director needed help.

[Podfic] I just happen to like apples (I am not afraid of snakes) read by @laheylupin – I legit listened to this podfic every night for like two years because the cadence is so beautiful and the reader’s voice is so soothing.  I know nothing at all about the fandom, but it’s an absolutely gorgeous fic

I did a small shoot today inspired by @thepiperofhameln‘s and @herrgrindelwald‘s fic Arms and the Boy.  It’s amazing and painfully real, and I highly recommend it (provided you have a pillow to hug and/or a box of tissues).

I was quite struck by Credence’s glowing brand, due to both the terror and dehumanization it brings and its inkling at Credence’s magic.  I did my best at portraying it here, so please consider this my artistic interpretation.

WARNINGS: Non-Con Touching/Manhandling, Magical Bondage?

The stairs lead up to a loft secluded from the rest of the hotel. It is obviously meant for the owner of the manor house and appears to take up quite a lot of real estate from the third floor. To the left is a simple kitchenette and to the right is a small sitting area. A little table, two chairs, two glasses of wine set out and a bottle. In the middle of the room against the furthest wall there is a large bed, and unlike the other beds in the manor, it is untouched by dust. It’s covers are a color crimson the likes of which Graves has never seen, and he finds himself fascinated by the fabric. There’s a walkin closet tucked to the side and parallel to it is a large bathroom decked with a tub buried into the floor and big enough for three or four. It’s all rather luxurious and he finds himself once again baffled by the history of the house.

“You came.”

Graves looks at the arriving subway train and bites his lips in worry. It is packed, people stashed together and pressed against each other in the most uncomfortable ways due to an electricity failure on the line, which caused some “unfortunate delays” during rush hour, as they learned while waiting.

If it were up to him he would make the better choice of going back outside and walk all the way to his house, or take a cab. But the weather is shit, cold pouring rain, and as for the cab the end of the month is near, and he’s short on money. So he clutches his briefcase, squares his shoulders and once people are done getting off the train, he does his best to get squeezed into the carriage with others.

There are tired strangers caging him in on all sides. Graves is glad he had the sense of mind to remove his coat before going in, but still – the atmosphere feels too hot, stifling, tense. He looks up at the metro line despite knowing it by heart, and gets the same usual confirmation that his stop isn’t for another twenty minutes.
